It is an award handed out this year to only 878 restaurants in the world, and the Brewster Inn in Cazenovia has once again received it. It’s the “two-glass” award handed out by Wine Spectator Magazine.
This prestigious distinction is awarded based on the quality of a restaurant’s wine list, and the Brewster Inn shines in that department. The wine cellar at the inn featured over 14,000 bottles of wine and over 700 individual selections. Yes, you read the right.
According to Wine Spectator the award was, “created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. These lists typically offer 400 or more selections, along with superior presentation, and display either vintage depth, with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions.”
I’ve always felt the Brewster had the best wine program in all of Upstate NY and it is the only restaurant in CNY to receive the two-glass award. Congratulations to Richard Hubbard, the owner and his great wine staff of Kirk Gibson and Steve Gordon.
The Brewster was not the only local restaurant to be recognized for its wine selection. The Lincklaen House in Cazenovia won a single glass award again this year. They have been honored over the past number of years for their wines and this year is no different.
A first time winner, the Colgate Inn in Hamilton, joined the list this year. Their single glass award was a nice touch as the food and beverage staff has been working very hard to upgrade and diversify their wine list.
